The Bullet DVR™ core unit contains a powerful ARM9 microprocessor running a Linux operating system. The Picture-in-Picture and Lap timer functions are self-contained, unlike other competing products requiring you to purchase add-on modules to perform these tasks, which brings up the price, size and weight of their system quite considerably.
All the electronics are housed inside a beautiful CNC machined enclosure, built from billet aluminum. The power and camera connectors are waterproofed, with a quick-connect mechanism. Simply push-in the connector and rotate it to lock in place! We do not use cheap connectors that may become loose and disconnect under heavy vibrations.
Furthermore, the connectors provide both the video signal and DC power for the camera, so you don't need to provide an external power supply for each camera, making for a very clean and simple installation. The whole system is powered directly from your vehicle's 12V battery, via the included cable.
There is a built-in audio microphone to capture ambient sound, or you may also connect an optional stereo mic externally. The unit also features a LANC jack, for connecting a special wired remote controller (sold separately), which allows you to operate the DVR remotely, at the simple push of a button.
Video and data are stored directly to a Compact Flash (CF) memory card, included with the unit. Playback requires a computer, which can be MAC or PC. The Bullet DVR™ is the only recording unit on the market offering you the choice of either MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 video recordings. MPEG-2 is the broadcast industry format, the best choice for editing and creating high resolution movies to be output on DVD media. The MPEG-4 format uses the popular DivX encoder, which is great for creating videos for websites and internet streaming. Both formats allow you to record videos at a high bitrate of up to 8 Mb/S, at full screen resolution (D1) and full frame rate.
The Bullet DVR™ unit is compatible with NTSC, PAL and SECAM standards, for use around the world."
“”The Bullet DVR is an amazing system due to its light weight, easy installation and exceptional clarity under the harshest conditions. Ever since I started using The Bullet DVR system, I don’t want to go onto the racetrack without it.”
