The Infra-Red receiver is used to log lap timing information, and to receive commands sent from the wireless remote. The IR frequency used for lap timing is compatible with timing beacons (emitter) from other systems such as AiM, Alfano, XT Racing, etc. The Bullet DVR™ system does not come with its own beacon, but will work with most other brands on the market.
The lap timing information is logged directly to the memory card for later review, and can also be displayed On-Screen, over the recorded video (OSD). It will show you the current lap time, as well as the previous lap time and best overall time for any given session. The built-in laptimer also supports up to 4 split times, for timing individual sections of the racetrack, so that you can monitor your progress on a specific part of the circuit, instead of the usual lap time for one complete lap.
The standard cable length of the IR receiver is 110cm (40 in.), for positioning the receiver on the vehicle to face the signal sent from the trackside beacon. You can order different lengths of extension if needed.
